The stage is set for an epic showdown! Two of LIV Golf's biggest stars are locked in a tie, ready to battle it out for the Adelaide crown this Sunday.
Get ready for some serious golf fireworks! After a thrilling third round at LIV Golf Adelaide, Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm find themselves perfectly matched, sharing the lead as they head into the final day of competition. This is the first time since LIV Golf Las Vegas back in 2024 that these two titans will be paired together in the final group, promising an unforgettable conclusion to the tournament.
Rahm himself is anticipating an intense duel, stating, "I think we'll both be looking forward to it, and I hope it's a banger. I hope we both have a good day, and may the best player win.”
But here's where it gets even more interesting... Anthony Kim, a recent addition to the 4Aces GC team, has been playing some seriously impressive golf. He carded a 4-under 68 in the third round, bringing his total score to 14-under for the event. This puts him in solo third place, just five shots behind the leaders. Kim will also be teeing off in the final group, aiming for his first top-10 finish in LIV Golf.
And this is the part most people miss... lurking just outside the spotlight are three players all tied for fourth place at 13-under par. Among them is Cameron Smith of Ripper GC, who made a significant leap up the leaderboard with an outstanding 8-under 64. He was joined by Peter Uihlein of RangeGoats GC and Lucas Herbert of Ripper GC, both of whom posted 5-under 67s.
Cameron Smith's performance was particularly noteworthy, showcasing a masterclass in his short game. "Felt really good," Smith commented. "I think maybe scrappy at times with my irons, but managed to get it up-and-down. Short game felt really good today. Putter felt really good.”
Meanwhile, Ben Campbell from RangeGoats GC, who was part of the final group with DeChambeau and Rahm in Round 3, experienced a bit of a stumble. He finished the day with an even-par 72, causing him to slip from a share of the lead after two rounds to seven shots back, now tied for seventh place heading into the final round.
On the team front, Legion XIII has made a powerful surge, establishing a commanding five-stroke lead over Ripper GC. Their impressive scoring came from Tyrrell Hatton (6-under 66), Caleb Surratt (8-under 64), and Tom McKibbin (3-under 69). For the Rippers, Smith and Herbert were the top scorers.
Controversially, some might argue that the shifting course conditions, particularly the eighth hole transforming from the hardest to the second-easiest, might have played a role in the dramatic leaderboard changes. What do you think? Does a course that significantly changes its difficulty mid-tournament make the competition fairer or less so? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
