In a thrilling start to the FIFA World Cup ticket sales, an astonishing 5 million ticket requests flooded in during the first 24 hours of the third sales phase. This surge in demand, despite escalating ticket prices, showcases the unwavering passion of fans worldwide.

The most anticipated group stage match so far is the clash between Colombia and Portugal, scheduled for June 27 at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami. This highly sought-after encounter is closely trailed by the opening match between Brazil and Morocco on June 13 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J.
Other popular matches include Mexico vs. Korea Republic in Guadalajara on June 18, Ecuador vs. Germany in New Jersey on June 25, and the highly anticipated Scotland vs. Brazil in Miami on June 24.
But here's where it gets controversial: with the secondary resale market already boasting astronomical prices, fans are rushing to secure tickets during this phase, which offers the most affordable options. It's a race against time and inflated prices!
And this is the part most people miss: FIFA hasn't disclosed the exact number of individual tickets requested, as fans can apply for up to four tickets per match. Assuming a similar trend to the 2018 and 2022 men's World Cups, where the average number of tickets requested per application exceeded two, the 5 million requests could equate to over 10 million tickets!
With nearly 2 million tickets already sold in the early phases, the availability is rapidly dwindling, leaving less than 5 million tickets for the taking.
The per-match ticket distribution is likely heavily influenced by the popularity of certain teams and matches. FIFA, however, hasn't shared the breakdown of fan interest between the group stage and knockout rounds, leaving room for speculation.
